OCHA launches Annual Report for 2022

09 Jun 2023

Body

Launched today, OCHA's Annual Report covers yet another year of deepening humanitarian need.

The report takes stock of our actions and activities during 2022, including those related to the impact of the invasion of Ukraine; the crises in Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Syria and Yemen; worsening violence in Haiti and the Democratic Republic of the Congo; and a coup d’état in Burkina Faso.

It also includes OCHA's response to climate-related emergencies, such as the Horn of Africa’s worst drought in 40 years, and the catastrophic floods in Pakistan that submerged one third of the country.

The report outlines the contributions of Member States and other UN and civil-society partners that helped ensure the most vulnerable people in crises received timely and quality humanitarian assistance. With a record US$30 billion from donors, OCHA helped UN agencies and partners reach 157 million people across 69 countries in 2022. This was 79 per cent of the people identified to receive aid.
